HomePrayer Ministry

Do you need prayer?

At House of Prayer we believe in the power of prayer. If you feel like you need prayer we have a team that meets after church that would be more than happy to speak with you and pray according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible is filled with powerful stories that demonstrate the effectiveness of prayer in various situations, from healing to provision, protection, deliverance, and guidance. Below are some key examples, each showing the incredible results of prayer and highlighting Jesus’ command to lay hands on the sick.

Healing through Prayer

  • Mark 16:17-18 – Jesus tells His disciples, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name… they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” This command from Jesus directly empowers believers to pray over the sick and expect healing.
  • James 5:14-15 – “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.” Here, James reiterates that prayer, paired with faith, brings healing and restoration.
  • The Healing of Jairus’s Daughter – In Mark 5:22-43, Jairus, a synagogue leader, falls at Jesus’ feet, pleading for his daughter’s life. Jesus responds, telling him to have faith. He lays His hands on the child, and through His touch and the power of prayer, she is raised from the dead.
  • Acts 5:12-16 – The apostles performed many signs and wonders, and “the people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.” Many were healed as the apostles laid hands on them, and they were delivered from diseases and evil spirits. This passage shows that God’s healing power continued to flow through the apostles after Jesus’ ascension.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

  • Acts 8:14-17 – When Peter and John went to Samaria, they laid hands on the new believers so that they might receive the Holy Spirit. The Samaritans had been baptized in water, but they had not yet received the Holy Spirit. After the apostles prayed and laid hands on them, they received the Holy Spirit. This passage highlights the connection between the laying on of hands and the impartation of the Holy Spirit to believers, empowering them for service.
  • Acts 19:5-6 – When the Apostle Paul visited Ephesus, he found some disciples who had been baptized only in the name of John. Paul laid his hands on them, and when he did, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. This instance shows that through the laying on of hands, believers can receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit, equipping them with spiritual gifts.

Deliverance from Oppression

Many people live their lives under the oppression of the devil not knowing that the constant struggles they face are spiritual in nature. Are you dealing with depression? Constant Fatigue? Suicidal thoughts? Perverse thoughts you keep having to reject? Financial blockages? Maybe you made the mistake of dabbling in witchcraft, the occult, yoga, or meditation and now feel different, or are experiences real attacks. Let us know, we can help.

  • Mark 16:17-18 – Jesus promises that one of the signs of believers will be that they will “drive out demons.” The disciples continued this ministry after Jesus’ ascension, and in Acts 16:16-18, Paul laid hands on a slave girl who had a spirit of divination, and he cast the spirit out of her. This act of laying hands brought freedom and deliverance to the oppressed.
  • Acts 5:16 – Many people were healed and delivered when the apostles laid hands on them. “Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.” This shows that the disciples had authority over unclean spirits, and laying hands was a key part of their ministry of deliverance.

Spiritual Empowerment for Ministry

Maybe you are feeling called by God to step up in ministry and in service to Him and would like prayer through the process. The Bible gives multiple examples of commissioning and impartation through prayer.

  • Acts 6:5-6 – In the early church, seven men were chosen to serve as deacons to help with the distribution of food. The apostles laid hands on them, “and they prayed and laid their hands on them.” The result was that the word of God spread, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly. Laying hands empowered these men for service in the church, showing how this practice was used to commission others into ministry roles.

  • 1 Timothy 4:14 – Paul writes to Timothy, “Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.” This passage reflects how laying hands is used to impart spiritual gifts and callings, commissioning individuals for ministry and strengthening them in their divine assignments.
